Disaster MemorialsThe Family Assistance Foundation offers assistance to groups of survivors, responders, community members, and others who have an interest in developing a memorial for the purpose of honoring disaster victims. Anyone who has an interest in working on a specific memorial may contact the Foundation by email or phone to learn more about our program. American Eagle 3379 Memorial, December 13, 1994Early January of 2010, a steering committee was convened for purposes of planning the Memorial for American Eagle 3379. Co-Chairs for the memorial project include: Lauren Anderson Slade who survived the crash, and Jeff Josefson, whose mother perished in the tragedy. Presently, other members of the committee include, Rich and Marie Anderson, parents of Lauren. Additional members should be announced soon. On all Foundation sponsored Memorials, an advisory committee, comprised of survivors who have participated in the development of other memorials will provide assistance and support, in addition to Foundation staff. For the American Eagle 3379 Memorial, Jim Hurd who has been heavily involved in the development of the TWA 800 Memorial and Joan Pontante, a very active member of the Northwest 255 family group, will serve on the advisory committee. Jim’s 28 year old son Jamie perished on TWA 800 in 1996 and Joan’s brother Bill, his wife and three children were among the casualties of NW 255 in 1987. Anyone else who has an interest in this or any memorials are encouraged to contact the Foundation.
